Figure 2 shows continuous ECG tracing recorded upon termination of PSVT with an intrad venous bolus of 6 mg adenosine. How do the ECG findings in Figure 2 help in the diagnosis of the mechanism of PSVT?

On telemetry she was noted to have a paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia with no discernible P waves. She was given 6 mg of intravenous adenosine with prompt conversion to normal sinus rhythm. Thirty ...
متن کاملA Case Report of Neonatal Atrial Flutter with Poor Feeding and Tachypnea
Background: Arrhythmias in neonates are not common and usually affect newborns with a normal heart or those that suffer from structural heart disease. A malignant type of arrhythmias is supraventricular tachycardia. Meanwhile, one uncommon type of supraventricular arrhythmias is atrial flutter (AFL), which is founded upon reentry mechanisms in the atrium. The AFL may result in heart failure or ...
متن کاملElectrocardiographic artefacts mimicking atrial tachycardia resulted in unnecessary diagnostic and therapeutic measures
Electrocardiographic (ECG) artefacts may closely simulate both supraventricular and ventricular tachycardias. We describe a case initially diagnosed as rapid atrial fibrillation, based on 12-lead surface ECG (especially the limb leads) and monitor tracing. The arrhythmia was resistant to beta blockers. Because of the at times apparently regular rhythm, an esophageal ECG recording was performed,...
متن کاملIncidence of Dual AV Node Physiology Following Termination of AV Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia by Adenosine-5'-Triphosphate: A Comparison with Drug Administration in Sinus Rhythm
Administration of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in sinus rhythm identifies dual atrioventricular node physiology (DAVNP) in 75% of patients with inducible slow/fast AV nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT). The incidence of DAVNP following termination of AVNRT with ATP is unknown. Incremental doses of ATP (10-60 mg) were administered, first in sinus rhythm and then during tachycardia induced at el...
متن کاملSUPRAVENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA FOLLOWING SECOND INDUCTION OF ANESTHESIA IN A PATIENT DIAGNOSED AS MALIGNANT HYPERTHERMIA AFTER FIRST ANESTHETIC EXPOSURE: TERMINOLOGY REQUIRES A SECOND LOOK
A 17 year old male who underwent surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome developed a postoperative complication which was labelled and diagnosed as malignant hyperthermia in Kerman Medical Center. The temperature recorded was 43°C, PaC02 70 mmHg and serum potassium level was 7 mEq/L. The patient was hospitalized in the intensive care unit for 10 days. On discharge, the patient had aphasia and...
